Kyle Kuzma says LeBron James was not subject of controversial tweet

Drama could very well be enveloping the Los Angeles Lakers on the heels of their Christmas Day loss to the Clippers.

The trainer for Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma posted an Instagram story following the loss that called out LeBron James.

Immediately after that, Kuzma sent out a tweet that seemed to call out Mr. James. He’s now indicating that said tweet had nothing to do with a perceived rift with King James.

Kuzma also expanded on this in comments on Saturday.

As much as others might want drama to be the name of the game surrounding James’ Lakers, this seems to be much ado about nothing.

After all, James covered the issue previously.

“Kuz came to me yesterday at practice and told me what’s going on, and that was it. I really don’t care for someone’s trainer or whatever the case may be. Everyone can have their own opinion,” James said. “Any time someone wants to get some notoriety, they can throw my name in it and people are going to pick it up. That’s why you asked me about it. My name was in it. I’ve never met the guy. I don’t know the guy. I couldn’t care less about the guy. Whatever the case may be, I wish him the best.”

It is, however, important to note that Kuzma was a subject of trade rumors leading up to the deal this past summer that sent Anthony Davis to the Lakers.

At 24-7 on the season, Los Angeles might be looking to improve its lineup. Without draft picks to offer up and a lack of cap room, Kuzma becomes the team’s biggest trade chip.

We know what’s happened to other players who have gotten on the bad side of King James. Whether this leads to a deal remains to be seen. But for now, both sides are downplaying it.
