Khalil Mack laments ’embarrassing’ and ‘unacceptable’ performance by Bears on ‘SNF’

The Chicago Bears were embarrassed on national television with a “Sunday Night Football” blowout loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16. Bears superstar pass rusher Khalil Mack said after the game that it was an “embarrassing” and “unacceptable” performance.

“You play games like that on TV, prime time, you want to go out and ball, especially at home,” Mack said, per the Chicago Tribune. “It’s embarrassing to us. We embarrassed our fans. And ultimately that’s unacceptable.”

Mack’s sentiment was shared by starting safety Eddie Jackson, who said, “Last home game, prime time, it’s embarrassing.”

Chicago’s defense did a better job than most of keeping the Chiefs from running up and down the field. The Kansas City offense managed just 5.6 yards per play, which is lower than the 6.4 yards it has averaged on the season.

However, outside of one sack by Mack, the Bears didn’t lay a finger on Mahomes.

And given the continued struggles Chicago’s offense endures as Mitchell Trubisky struggles with basic stuff much of the time, this was a death sentence for the Bears Sunday night.

They were booed off their own field by Bears fans at halftime, down 17-0 in a mistake-filled first two quarters. And it never got any better than that.

Now, after a lost season and amid crushed expectations due to the team’s 12-4 campaign in 2018, the Bears have a lot to think about this offseason.
