Mike Tomlin: Steelers did nothing to instigate brawl with Browns

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin gave his weekly press conference ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

In what can’t be considered too much of a surprise, Tomlin was asked at length about Thursday night’s brawl in a game against the Cleveland Browns that led to multiple suspensions.

Tomlin seemed to take the easy way out, pretty much blaming Myles Garrett and the Browns for the entire ugly incident.

We’re not even sure what to make of this. Garrett’s actions were unacceptable. That’s why he was suspended indefinitely by the league for removing Mason Rudolph’s helmet and hitting the Steelers quarterback in the head with it.

However, Rudolph and the Steelers were not innocent bystanders here. The second-year quarterback legitimately kicked Garrett in the groin multiple times prior to the incident descending into chaos.

In fact, there’s a bunch of people around the NFL who believe Rudolph should have been suspended.

The fact that Tomlin won’t take any responsibility is pretty astonishing. It takes two to tango. Ignoring your team’s role in an incident such as this is a horrible look.
