James Conner: ‘I’m making great progress’ in rehab from shoulder injury

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner runs onto the field

Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner missed last Sunday’s game against Indianapolis with a shoulder injury, but his recovery is going well.

Speaking to reporters about the shoulder injury on Monday, Conner expressed a ton of optimism about where he’s at in the rehab process.

“Reaching across my body & being extended, I do a lot more than just hold the football,” Conner said, per Steelers Depot. “For me to be my best out there, I want to have the strength and range of motion, so it just takes time and I’m making great progress. I attacked rehab earlier today.”

This is music to our ears. Conner was having the best game of his 2019 season in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins before injuring his shoulder late in that game. The third-year back out of Pitt racked up 150 yards and a touchdown from scrimmage.

On the season, Conner has tallied 616 yards and six touchdowns from scrimmage for the Steelers, playing in seven games. Both he and rookie Benny Snell missed last Sunday’s game against the Colts, meaning a heavy workload for Jaylen Samuels.
