Dwayne Haskins will make first NFL start Sunday against Bills, Case Keenum still in concussion protocol

The Washington Redskins will have Dwayne Haskins under center Sunday in Buffalo for their game against the Bills, as Case Keenum is still in the league’s concussion protocol.

JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington shared the news, noting Colt McCoy will back up Haskins, who will get his first ever NFL start.

The Redskins selected Haskins 15th overall this past April, but there’s been a lot of talk that the coaches and front office did not see eye to eye about the selection. With Jay Gruden out of the picture, interim head coach Bill Callahan stayed on the same course, opting to roll with Keenum and McCoy under center. Until now.

Whether Haskins is ready for this game remains to be seen. So far, he’s done nothing but struggle when given opportunities to play. However, he has come into games as a backup, and therefore has not been given a week to prepare for a game.

Chances are, it’s going to be another rough outing for the rookie out of Ohio State. Buffalo’s defense is among the most dangerous in the league, and Washington’s offensive line remains a train wreck.
