The Los Angeles Clippers are continuing with the theme we saw with the Toronto Raptors last season. They’ve rested reigning NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in one game of a back-to-back already this season.
It’s really not going to sit well with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Co. That’s now magnified by the fact that Los Angeles has already ruled Leonard out for Wednesday’s nationally televised game against the Milwaukee Bucks. The reasoning? Load management.
This really isn’t a great look. ESPN is set to broadcast the game between the NBA’s reigning regular season MVP in that of Giannis Antetokounmpo and the reigning Finals MVP, Mr. Leonard. This is also a potential NBA Finals matchup.
It’s only one of two games these stars will play against one another in the regular season. It’s also the second time Leonard will sit to load management in just the first eight games of the regular season. The other game also came on national television against the Utah Jazz.
The NBA has pushed back against this starting with the Golden State Warriors of two seasons ago. We’re sure that they are up in arms over this decision.
