CFB Week 14 predictions

Now it’s time to take a closer look at each game and offer up some CFB Week 14 predictions.

Cincinnati vs. Memphis

Friday night delight: This game is a pretty big deal for these AAC rivals. The winner will likely end up hosting the AAC Championship Game. Not to mention it will also be the highest-ranked Group of Five team heading into conference championship weekend.

It’s a classic case of strength-versus-strength as Cincinnati’s stout defense looks to slow down Memphis’ high-powered offense. Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder may not play, however, after getting hurt against South Florida two weeks back.

Prediction: Going with the Tigers to win straight-up at home, but taking Cincinnati against the spread.

Ohio State vs. Michigan

Harbaugh’s bane: The Ohio State Buckeyes have beaten Michigan seven straight times, and Harbaugh has obviously lost every time he’s gone against them. With the Buckeyes looking like arguably the best team in the nation this year, it’s hardly surprising Michigan is a home dog.

The Wolverines come into this game on a nice hot streak, having won four straight. But Ohio State is perfect this year, and is coming off an impressive win over Penn State last Saturday.

This game comes down to which quarterback I trust in clutch situations. Hint: It’s not Shea Patterson.

Prediction: Taking Ohio State straight up, and against the spread.

Alabama vs. Auburn

The Iron Bowl: An annual classic between SEC rivals, this year’s version holds significant value to Alabama, which won’t get a chance to hang an SEC title banner this winter, having already been eliminated from the title game.

Auburn is very good defensively. If Tua Tagovailoa had been healthy for this game, we wouldn’t even think twice about Alabama’s offense handling it, though. With Mac Jones under center, the Crimson Tide just aren’t nearly as dynamic. So this is going to be a fascinating game to watch unfold. Another loss for ‘Bama would end any talk of the College Football Playoff, to be sure.

Prediction: Taking Auburn to win straight up.

Wisconsin vs. Minnesota

Paul Bunyan’s Axe: This is a huge game. The winner will head to the Big Ten Championship Game. Should Minnesota beat Wisconsin at home Saturday, then it would have a chance to shock the world once again in the title game against Ohio State, and potentially slip into the College Football Playoff.

The battle between Tanner Morgan and his trio of dynamic receivers going up against Wisconsin’s sixth-ranked pass defense will almost solely determine the winner of this game. That is, unless Jonathan Taylor has a legendary game on the ground and the Badgers dominate from start to finish.

Prediction: Taking Minnesota to win straight up, and to cover.

Texas A&M vs. LSU

Can TAMU do it again? The last time these programs clashed it ended up going seven overtime periods with the Aggies coming out ahead, 74-72.

Things are a bit different in 2019. The Tigers are the top team in the nation, led by Heisman favorite Joe Burrow, who has been practically perfect this year. It’s also worth pointing out that the Aggies have lost every big game they’ve been in this year, including last weekend against Georgia.

Prediction: Taking LSU to win straight up, and cover.

Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State

The Bedlam Series is always a ton of fun: High scores and plenty of offense is historically what this rivalry produces. Along with a ton of Sooners wins. Oklahoma has won four straight against Oklahoma State, and 14 of the last 16.

With Jalen Hurts doing magic almost every week for Tom Herman’s Sooners, it’s hard to imagine the Cowboys will break this streak in 2019. Though, if Oklahoma’s defense continues to make key mistakes, Chuba Hubbard could run wild and lead an epic upset.

Prediction: Taking Sooners to win, but Oklahoma State to cover.
