Report: Raiders will be buyers, looking for LBs, pass rushers at NFL trade deadline

The Oakland Raiders (3-2) are alive and well in the AFC West through five games and are reportedly looking to upgrade their defense via a trade.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the Raiders will be buyers ahead of the 2019 NFL trade deadline (Oct. 29). He notes the team is specifically looking for linebackers and pass rushers.

One of the big reasons Oakland is looking for linebackers is that Vontaze Burfict, who was not only a starter but a “leader” for the Raiders, was suspended for the rest of the season following a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit against Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle.

As for pass rushers, Oakland has been struggling in this department ever since trading Khalil Mack to Chicago. Last year’s draft pick Arden Key and No. 4 overall pick in April, Clelin Ferrell, have yet to become stars for the Raiders.
