Report: Lions, Bills reportedly in on Melvin Gordon ahead of trade deadline

Reports surfaced on Sunday that the market for Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon has been heating up ahead of this week’s NFL trade deadline.

According to this note from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills have specifically been mentioned as possibilities.

A holdout for the first several weeks of the season, Gordon has struggled big time since returning to the lineup. The impending free agent is averaging just 2.5 yards per attempt and has put up 112 rushing yards in four games.

It seems rather clear that the two-time Pro Bowler does not have a future in Los Angeles. Even if the Chargers have to sell low on him, it makes sense to trade the running back.

As it relates to these two teams specifically bandied about as potential landing spots, Detroit seems to make the most sense. Leading back Kerryon Johnson is on injured reserve with a knee injury.

Buffalo boasts ageless wonder Frank Gore, who has put up 422 rushing yards at a clip of 4.4 yards through seven games this season.
