Report: Curt Schilling has significant interest in interviewing for Phillies’ manager job

Former Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Curt Schilling is looking to get back into the game on the coaching side.

According to USA Today‘s Bob Nightengale, friends close to Schilling indicated that he would love to get back into the game and would be interested in interviewing with the Phillies for their open manager position.

According to the report, Schilling would also be interested in becoming the Boston Red Sox next pitching coach.

Schilling was fired in 2016 by ESPN for offensive posts on social media. Since that time, he has been away from baseball commentary and has no prior experience coaching at the professional level.

He spent much of his career in Philadelphia. During his 20-year career, nine with the Phillies, he won 216 games with aa 3.46 ERA and 3,116 strikeouts. The six-time All-Star and three-time World Series winner first became eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2013.

While Schilling may be interested in both vacancies, it remains to be seen if the interest is mutual.
