Jason Pierre-Paul to practice for first time since car accident in April resulted in neck fracture

Jason Pierre-Paul

Tampa Bay Buccaneers pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul is finally set to practice for the first time since fracturing his neck in a car accident this past April.

ESPN’s Jenna Laine broke down how this will work for Pierre-Paul, who will be doing individual work at first:

“The plan for Jason Pierre-Paul is to practice Tuesday and Wednesday during this bye week at the facility without the team. He’ll be in pads doing one-on-ones with some backup/practice squad offensive linemen, with his position coach Larry Foote, an offensive line coach (Harold Goodwin and/or Joe Gilbert) and members of training staff. This is Pierre-Paul’s first time practicing since suffering a fractured neck in April.”

Pierre-Paul recently was cleared by doctors to resume rehab work, and apparently his progress has gone quite well.

Last season, he racked up 12.5 sacks in his first year with the Bucs after being traded from the New York Giants. The team surely could use his presence on defense, as the Bucs rank dead last in passing defense, allowing 304.5 yards per game.
