49ers Pro Bowl TE George Kittle dealing with groin injury ahead of Week 6 clash with Rams

The San Francisco 49ers are hoping Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle will play Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams, but a groin injury has his availability in question.

Kyle Shanahan told reporters Friday that Kittle was limited during practice and that while he expects him to play it’s yet to be determined.

Already without three-time Pro Bowl fullback KYle Juszczyk for the next month-plus due to a knee injury, the 49ers can ill afford to lose Kittle for any amount of time. If he were unable to play against NFC West rival Los Angeles, then the 49ers would be down two of their best offensive weapons.

In addition to being the 49ers’ top receiver (23 catches for 235 yards and a touchdown), Kittle is one of the best run-blocking tight ends in the NFL and a key to San Francisco’s success on the ground.
