WATCH: Astros teeing off on A’s in first inning

Astros third baseman Alex Bregman

Oakland Athletics starter Mike Fiers had not lost a decision dating back to late April heading into Monday night’s start against the Houston Astros.

That’s bound to change. The hurler was rocked early and often by his former Astros team in Houston. It really was a sight to behold.

The first-inning home run barrage started with a three-run blast from Alex Bregman. The ball traveled 391 feet and had an exit velocity of nearly 99 MPH.

First baseman Yordan Álvarez followed that up with a solo blast that traveled 429 feet.

If that weren’t enough, catcher Robinson Chirinos took Fiers deep for a two-run blast later in the opening stanza.

All six runs via the homer. Three homers off a pitcher that had been among the best in Major League Baseball over the past three months.

Yeah, these Astros know how to hit the cover off the baseball.
