WATCH: Antonio Brown speaks for first time since assault allegations

New England Patriots wide receiver Antoinio Brown took to Instagram Thursday evening. It’s the first time Brown has talked publicly since the six-time Pro Bowler was accused of sexual assault earlier in the week.

Brown didn’t mention the accuser by name, but it does seem like he responded to the allegations.

“Call God. In the time of crisis, all I ask is love, dedication and focus. The devil tries to bring you down when you get closer to your goals,” Brown said. “The key is don’t let them.”

Brown also rambled on about how basketball and soccer players are loved while those on the gridiron aren’t. He concluded that point by indicating that football should have a Team USA, too. We’re not 100 percent sure what he means by that.

The star receiver signed with the New England Patriots on Saturday, mere hours after he was released by the Oakland Raiders. Two days later, a suit was filed in federal court by his ex trainer claiming three different instances of sexual assault.

It’s not yet known what’s going to come of this. All we know is that the accuser is set to meet with the NFL at some point next week.

Local authorities in the Pittsburgh area also announced that they are not planning a criminal investigation stemming from the allegations.

Brown is expected to make his Patriots debut Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
