Report: Cardinals place starting OT Marcus Gilbert on IR with torn ACL

Arizona Cardinals rookie quarterback Kyler Murray will have to navigate through the remainder of the season without starting right tackle Marcus Gilbert.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals have placed Gilbert on injured reserve with a torn ACL.

This is a major blow for Arizona after it acquired Gilbert in an off-season trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former second-round pick started 87 of 88 games in which he appeared in eight seasons with Pittsburgh.

Now that Gilbert is out for the season, Arizona will have to choose between Joshua Miles and former Army standout Brett Toth to start moving forward on the season. That’s a less-than-ideal situation.
