Report: Alabama starting DE LaBryan Ray may have suffered season-ending injury

LaBryan Ray

LaBryan Ray, a junior defensive end who has started all three games so far for the Alabama Crimson Tide, may be out the rest of the season.

According to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, Ray is likely to miss extended time and could miss the entire campaign with a foot injury. He had offseason surgery on the same foot and left Saturday’s game against South Carolina after re-aggravating it.

Following the game, Nick Saban spoke to reporters about the situation.

“That same foot was bothering him in the game, so we’ll have to do an MRI and see what’s going on with that and figure it out probably Sunday or Monday,” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said. “But he may be the one guy (from this game) that is out for some period of time. But we don’t really know the extent of the injury.”

Since then, Ray did have an MRI, which appears to have revealed significant damage that will keep him out long term.

Before exiting Saturday’s game, Ray tallied nine tackles, a sack and a forced fumble through Alabama’s first three games.
