Redskins’ Derrius Guice to miss time after suffering knee injury in debut

Washington Redskins running back Derrius Guice did everything he could to return to action this season after suffering a brutal torn ACL last summer.

The 2018 second-round pick actually got the start Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles. That led to future Hall of Famer Adrian Peterson being a healthy inactive.

One day after putting up just 18 yards on 10 attempts, this one report suggests that Guice suffered a knee injury in his regular-season debut. It’s not yet known whether the former LSU standout will need surgery, but he’s expected to miss some time.

This is yet another horrible blow for Guice during a young career that’s been plagued by injury.

Prior to being selected by Washington No. 59 overall, Guice was seen as a potential top-20 pick. Ridiculous narratives surrounding a lack of maturity led to him free-falling in the draft.

The hope here is that this is not a long-term injury. If there’s good news on this front, it’s that the injury isn’t to the same knee that Guice tore his ACL last year.
