LSU QB Joe Burrow Heisman odds skyrocket from 200-1 to 5-1

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is thriving in a big way playing for offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger. Oddsmakers are taking notice, as Burrow is now one of the heavy favorites to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy after opening as a distinct long shot.

When the season began, Burrow had 200-1 Heisman odds. After his breakout performance on the national stage against Texas Saturday night, he’s second only to Tua Tagovailoa with 5-1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy.

Jalen Hurts and Trevor Lawrence are also 5-1 favorites to win the Heisman. Both of them were heavy favorites to open the season, however. Burrow has seemingly come out of nowhere to challenge them.

Through two games, the LSU gunslinger has passed for 749 yards with nine touchdowns and just one interception. Even better, he came through in the clutch time and time again in the primetime matchup against the Longhorns — including the game-sealing touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter.

If Burrow and the Tigers can keep up this torrid pace, then the Heisman and the national championship trophy are both within their grasp.
