Atlanta Braves outfielder and reigning National League Rookie of the Year Ronald Acuna Jr. is already a superstar. What he’s done as a sophomore is legendary.
The 21-year-old made more history during Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies. He became the first member of the Braves with 40-plus homers since Andruw Jones back in 2006.
That’s nowhere near the extent of it. Acuna also joins Hall of Famers Eddie Matthews and Mel Ott as the only players in Major League Baseball history to hit 40-plus homers at 21 years or younger.
If that weren’t enough, he’s the youngest player in history with 40 homers and 30 stolen bases in a season.
It was unfortunate to see Christian Yelich go down to a season-ending injury last week. Los Angeles Dodgers star Cody Bellinger is also in the mix for the National League MVP award.
However, Acuna has certainly put his name in the conversation with what the youngster has done this season. It’s simply awe inspiring.
