Alabama released statement expressing disappointment in kickoff time for Southern Miss game

The Alabama football program is not happy about once again being scheduled for an afternoon game against Southern Miss on Sept. 21.

Already having played one home game in the heat against New Mexico State, the Crimson Tide will play in the afternoon this weekend against South Carolina, and then they’ll be at home for another day game against Southern Miss.

That’s not setting well with the school’s top brass, which led to a statement released by athletic director Greg Byme and president Stuart Bell.

Head football coach Nick Saban, who ripped into fans a bit for leaving early in Week 2 after the blowout win over the Aggies, also had something to say about the early start.

“We know it was a difficult circumstance for a lot of folks,” Saban said early Monday afternoon, “and hopefully our administration will continue to work to try to play some of these games at a different time.”

Clearly, ‘Bama wants more football under the lights.
