Report: Veteran NFL CB Morris Claiborne facing four-game suspension

Free agent cornerback Morris Claiborne has been hoping to latch on with a team during training camp.

The former Dallas Cowboys first-round pick is among the best players remaining on the open market. Unfortunately for the LSU product, he might have to wait to sign.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, Claiborne is facing a four-game suspension from the league for violating its substance abuse policy.

Claiborne, 29, started all 30 games in which he appeared for the New York Jets over the past two seasons. He recorded a combined 100 tackles, 22 passes defended and three interceptions.

He was the No. 6 overall pick of Dallas back in 2012 and started 43 games in five seasons with the team. That span saw Claiborne sidelined by a plethora of injuries.
