New York Giants rookie cornerback DeAndre Baker reportedly will undergo further testing following an MRI on his sprained left knee.

Art Stapleton of Record Sports notes the injury occurred during non-contact drills early on Sunday, and that it’s unknown exactly what the MRI showed, or the severity of his injury.

The fact that Baker injured himself during a non-contact drill is troubling, because those types of injuries have a tendency to include ligament damage.

Baker was selected with the 30th overall pick this past April out of Georgia. He’s one of the best cover corners to come out of college this past cycle. Needless to say, the Giants will struggle to replace Baker if he ends up sitting out regular-season games.
