Kicker Phil Dawson retires at the age of 44

Phil Dawson retires

Phil Dawson has been in the NFL since before the turn of the century, and at the age of 44 he has finally decided to retire, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Originally undrafted out of Texas in 1998, Dawson broke through in 1999 as a member of the Cleveland Browns, whom he played for 14 seasons. Dawson then spent four years with the San Francisco 49ers and played the past two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

Over the course of his career, Dawson made 441-of-526 field goals (83.8%) and scored 1,847 points, which ranks 11th on the all-time scoring list.
