The New York Yankees could soon be getting one of their best hitters back in time for the stretch run.

Out since June 25 with a sprained PCL in his right knee, Giancarlo Stanton performed agility drills in Seattle on Monday and could soon head to the minors for actual at-bats.

Stanton’s 2019 season has been one filled with injuries. In fact, the former NL MVP has played in a grand total of nine games this year.

It goes without saying that the Yankees would welcome Stanton back with open arms. He hit .266 with 38 homers and 100 RBI in his first season with the Yankees after being acquired from the Miami Marlins prior to the 2018 campaign.

New York entered this week’s action with an 85-47 record and tied with the Houston Astros for the top playoff spot in the American League.
