In case we were wondering whether it was all a dream, the Indianapolis Colts made official Sunday afternoon what was announced a day earlier.

Indianapolis placed franchise quarterback Andrew Luck on the retired list, per the NFL’s transaction wire. It’s official. Luck is retired.

It’s been a whirlwind past 24 hours around the league. Reports of Luck’s retirement trickled in during the latter stages of Indianapolis’ preseason game Saturday evening. Once the game was over, he held a press conference to announce said retirement.

Since then, Luck has been on the receiving end of support from other players. He’s also been criticized by some Colts fans.

Any time a player retires at the height of his career, there’s going to be some blow back. At the very least, Luck’s now former Colts organization supports him.
