Clemson favored over Alabama to win CFB championship

If we were to ask Las Vegas, the odds-on bet would be for the Clemson Tigers and Alabama Crimson Tide to face off in the national championship game for a fourth consecutive season.

According to My Top Sportsbooks, Clemson is favored to win the title with Alabama coming in at No. 2.

Here’s the overall odds.

  • Clemson: 5/2
  • Alabama: 7/2
  • Georgia: 11/1
  • Ohio State: 13/1
  • Oklahoma: 17/1
  • Michigan: 22/1
  • Texas: 32/1
  • Florida: 33/1
  • LSU: 35/1
  • Oregon: 40/1
  • Notre Dame: 45/1

In no way should this come as too much of a surprise. Clemson returns Heisman candidate Trevor Lawrence under center after he led the team to the title over Alabama as a freshman. He’s joined in the backfield by the electric Travis Etienne.

As for Alabama, they return last year’s Heisman runner-up Tua Tagovailoa and star wide receiver Jerry Jeudy.

Though, it will be interesting to see where the money goes in the gambling community the closer we get to the opening of the season.

There’s a dramantic drop off in odds after Alabama and Clemson. It could lead to money being thrown in the direction of Georgia, Ohio State and Oklahoma, among others, moving forward.

As of right now, the sportsbook has the following CFB Playoff semifinal matchups.

  • Clemson-Oklahoma
  • Alabama-Georgia

Both the Tigers (1/3) and Crimson Tide (4/7) have overwhelming odds to make it into the CFP.
