Report: Royals star Jorge Soler could be available

With the MLB trade deadline approaching in two weeks, rumors about potential deals will start heating up.

Most teams now know where they stand. If they are not contending for a playoff spot, they will likely be sellers. This list includes a Kansas City Royals squad that’s currently 29 games under .500.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Kansas City has made star outfielder Jorge Soler available in trade talks.

Soler, 27, is in the midst of a breakout campaign. The former Chicago Cubs top prospect has belted 25 homers and driven in 64 runs this season.

Though, the outfielder has also posted a mere .318 on-base percentage. He has lit it up recently, hitting .351 with a 1.130 OPS in the month of July.

Under contract through the 2021 season, Soler would cost a pretty penny in a trade. And as Feinsand noted, Royals All-Star Whit Merrifield is unlikely to be moved.
