Padres to promote top prospect Adrian Morejon from Double-A

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The San Diego Padres boast one of the best young core groups in Major League Baseball. That’s headed by stars Fernando Tatis Jr. and Chris Paddack.

We can now add pitcher Adrian Morejon to the list of youngsters debuting for the Southern California team. According to MLB’s Francys Romero, the Padres will promote Morejon from Double-A. This means he’ll skip an entire level in the minors before making his MLB debut.

Morejon, 20, was San Diego’s fourth-best prospect heading into the season. He’s pitched to a 0-4 record with a 4.25 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 16 starts at Double-A this season.

This comes on the heels of San Diego promoting No. 2 prospect, infielder Luis Urias, on Friday.
