Texas Tech senior Justus Parker was suspended for an entire season, ending his college career, and on Tuesday he shared the reason why.
Parker admitted he took a banned supplement. He shared that he was “moving to more of a linebacker role, and needed to gain weight.” He asked for prayers and thanked many who helped him during his tenure at Texas Tech.
Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells broke the news of Parker’s suspension on Monday, noting that because Parker is a senior, he “is no longer part of the team,” per Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
Parker was named All-Big 12 second team following his sophomore campaign, which saw him tally 42 tackles, four interceptions and forced four fumbles. A preseason All-Big 12 selection last year, he finished his junior season with 18 tackles and one sack.
This is a tough way to end one’s college football career. Yet Parker is addressing the situation head on, and for that he deserves credit.
