Giannis Antetokounmpo files lawsuit to protect ‘Greek Freak’ trademark

Milwaukee Bucks star and reigning NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is apparently looking to dominate on another court.

According to this report, Giannis has filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York claiming that a man has been illegally using his “Greek Freak” to sell goods with the nickname’s likeness.

Antetokounmpo and his team claim that the defendant has not responded to demand that he cease selling apparel with the now-famous nickname attached to it.

It’s not yet known if Antetokounmpo is seeking damages or is simply looking to maintain his justified monopoly on the “Greek Freak” brand.

A world-wide sensation over the past several seasons, the 24-year-old forward averaged 27.2 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists while leading Milwaukee to the best record in the NBA during the 2018-19 campaign.

Antetokounmpo is currently playing under a four-year, $100 million contract that runs through the 2020-21 season.
