Ex-Lions’ RB Theo Riddick will visit Saints, per report

Just hours after being released by the Detroit Lions, running back Theo Riddick is reportedly already drawing interest from at least one NFL team and will be visiting them soon.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Riddick is scheduled to meet with the New Orleans Saints in the coming days.

A sixth-round draft pick in 2013, Riddick rose to prominence in Detroit as a featured weapon in the passing game. He hauled in 50-plus catches for 370-plus yards in each of his past four seasons and remained an effective receiver out of the backfield in 2018.

Riddick’s potential fit with New Orleans would be particularly interesting because of Alvin Kamara’s presence. Many expect Kamara to take on an even larger role this season following Mark Ingram’s departure, but Riddick would certainly eat into Kamara’s streak of consecutive seasons with 80-plus receptions and 700-plus receiving yards.

Riddick will surely draw interest from many other teams across the league as running backs that can effectively catch the football and make plays are coveted by every team.
