Bobby Portis: Knicks better than Nets, ‘going to shock a lot of people’

The New York Knicks have been getting hammered over what fans perceive as a distinct failure to land top stars in free agency. However, newly signed big man Bobby Portis disagrees. He says the Knicks are better than the Brooklyn Nets, who landed Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

Portis was approached by TMZ Sports. Speaking about the Knicks, he said, “I know everybody is going to have something to say about every situation, but I feel like we got a good core and we’re going to shock a lot of people.”

The Knicks certainly have spun a positive tale for their fans since striking out on Irving and Durant. Instead of those top guys, the team signed Julius Randle, Taj Gibson, and Portis, along with drafting RJ Barrett.

That might not inspire a ton of confidence, and in fact one of the most prominent Knicks fans in the world has admitted to crying and throwing up over it all.

Portis, however, is excited about the team he joined. He was asked if the Knicks can beat their cross-town rival Nets, and he responded by saying, “Oh, yeah. For sure. For sure.”

Time will tell if he’s clairvoyant, or if he’s just seeing the world through Knicks-colored glasses.
