New Los Angeles Lakers star big man Anthony Davis held his introductory press conference with the media on Saturday.

While most of the Q&A session was nothing to write home about, Davis’ note about how he found out he was heading to the Lakers is rather interesting.

The All-NBA performer was watching a movie at a Malibu cinema in Southern California when his agent, Rich Paul, called. In order to avoid interrupting the show, Davis ignored two calls from his agent.

He apparently called Paul back to no avail. That’s when the former New Orleans Pelicans star checked Instagram and found out he was in fact dealt to the Lakers.

We’re going to applaud Mr. Davis for showing good manners during the movie. There’s nothing more disrespectful than taking a call during a flick.

Davis also had a bit of a bold prediction during the presser, indicating that he’d put the Lakers up against any other contending team in a seven-game playoff series.

Adding Davis to the mix with LeBron James certainly makes Los Angeles a top-end contender.

Though, this team now has to compete with Paul George, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers in Southern California.

That doesn’t even take into account the five-time reigning Western Conference champion Golden State Warriors, who were able to add All-Star D’Angelo Russell after it became apparent that Kevin Durant was departing for Brooklyn.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets boast a star backcourt of James Harden and Russell Westbrook. These are just four of a half-dozen teams with legit championship aspirations out west following a frenzied free-agency period.
