The New Orleans Pelicans, who own the No. 1 overall pick, will host Zion Williamson ahead of the NBA Draft, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Williamson is widely expected to be the top pick of the draft, so this in no way is a surprise development.
However, there have been reports indicating that Williamson wasn’t exactly thrilled when the Pelicans won the NBA Draft Lottery a couple weeks ago.
Since then, Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis has only further enunciated his desire to be traded, which means New Orleans would likely be looking at a rebuild with Williamson as the centerpiece.
Meeting like this should serve to provide both parties with some clarity. The 2019 NBA Draft takes place on Thursday, June 20.
