WATCH: Tigers’ JaCoby Jones makes catch-of-the-year HR robbery

Just a day after Cleveland Indians outfielder Oscar Mercado made an incredible home run robbery, Detroit Tigers center fielder JaCoby Jones found a way to top it on Saturday.

In the third inning, Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles drilled a ball deep to left-center field that easily cleared the wall. Somehow, Jones scaled the wall and reached half his body over to make the catch and rob Robles of a go-ahead home run.

It’s one thing for an outfielder to stand with his back near the wall and make a leaping grab to keep the home run from going over the fence. Jones took his thievery to a whole different level by literally reaching half his body past the wall and taking a home run away.

It’s the kind of play that can pump up a team and certainly made starting pitcher Gregory Soto ecstatic on the mound. In a season where not much has gone right for the Tigers, Jones gave everyone in Detroit a reason to celebrate on Saturday.
