Warriors ban minority owner one year, fine him $500,000

The Golden State Warriors did not waste any time reacting to the ugly scene that happened during Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors Wednesday evening.

On the heels of a video showing investor and minority owner Mark Stevens shoving Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, Golden State has banned him for a calendar year while fining Stevens a cool $500,000.

Lowry himself had been lobbying for Stevens to be banned for life. Meanwhile, Lakers star LeBron James and the head of the NBPA have both released statements on the matter.

Either way we spin this, the Warriors did take swift action to hopefully put an end to this situation.

The NBA Finals should be about the players and the teams. It shouldn’t be about this.

Game 4 of the series will tip off in Oakland Friday night with Toronto up 2-1. Stevens won’t be on hand for that game.
