Twins’ OF Eddie Rosario headed to injured list

Just days after losing center fielder Byron Buxton to the injured list, the Minnesota Twins will now be without another star outfielder for the foreseeable future.

Left fielder Eddie Rosario will be placed on the 10-day injured list this weekend after suffering a left ankle sprain on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.

It’s a substantial loss for the Twins given Rosario’s impact defensively and at the plate. The 27-year-old has been one of the club’s best hitters this season with a .841 OPS, 20 home runs, 60 RBI and a .282 batting average.

Minnesota is already without Buxton and utility fielder Marwin Gonzalez, leaving the outfield extremely thin for over a week. In Rosario’s absence, Luis Arraez and Jake Cave will likely see more playing time in the corner outfield.
