While Shaun Patterson didn’t get to graduate with the rest of his class, he did get a special ceremony that included a message from Tom Brady.
Patterson dealt with Tetralogy of Fallot, a heart disease. Because of that, he was forced to spend much of the spring at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis awaiting a heart transplant. He eventually got it. The recovery kept him in the hospital, which prevented him from walking at graduation.
The hospital created a ceremony for Shaun, who is a fan of the New England Patriots. Part of that ceremony included a message from Brady.
“I just want to let you know that you’re an amazing guy and I’m really proud of you and all the things you’ve accomplished thus far,” Brady said, per Angelique Fiske, Patriots.com. “I also you hear you love sports you love the Patriots, and I think what may be the best idea is you analyze a few plays for me and see what you can do. Pull up some of your favorite clips and then send them to me so I can do a little evaluation. Hang tough. Take care. We’re thinking of you. We’re proud of you. Congrats on your graduation and keep kicking butt.”
That’s a great message from Brady. Really, this is an outstanding effort from Brady, the hospital, and of course, Patterson himself.
We’d really love to see Patterson take Brady up on his offer. The two of them sitting down evaluating some plays would be an outstanding sight for everyone.
Hopefully that can happen in the near future.
