Report: Bucks waive PG George Hill

As the Milwaukee Bucks prepare for one of the most critical free agency periods in team history, the team plans to clear cap space by waiving combo guard George Hill.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Milwaukee intends to waive the veteran guard and allow him to become a free agent.

According to the report, Hill is expected to draw notable interest on the free agent market and he could even return to Milwaukee on a cheaper contract.

The 33-year-old’s $18 million salary for the 2019-’20 season would have become fully guaranteed if he was on Milwaukee’s roster after July 2. Instead, the Bucks waived him before the deadline and only owe him $1 million guaranteed.

Hill played very well for Milwaukee during the playoffs and averaged 11.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals in 26 minutes per night. He’ll likely draw interest from a number of contenders in need of some veteran depth and scoring off the bench.
