Rangers star Joey Gallo leaves game, could be placed on IL

Texas Rangers power hitter Joey Gallo is in the midst of a career season. He entered Saturday’s game against the Kansas City Royals hitting .272 with 16 homers, 39 RBI and a robust .415 OBP.

Unfortunately, it looks like Gallo could be sidelined for some time. He exited Saturday’s game after just one at-bat with an apparent oblique injury.

Rangers report the Gallo exit as left oblique tightness. I'd be shocked if there is no IL stint. I'd be surprised if we seem him before Father's Day.

This is not great news for a surprising Rangers team that currently sits over .500 at 28-27 on the season.

Gallo, 25, leads the team in homers, RBI, on-base percentage and OPS. There will be further updates as the day progresses.
