A few years back, legendary New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath divulged that he believed he could cure brain damage by using a Hyperbaric chamber.

On Monday, speaking with Howard Stern, Namath said that he did, in fact, cure his own brain damage caused by football by utilizing this treatment.

Namath said he suffered “a minimum” five “lights out” concussions during his football career. He said that he witnessed a teammate deteriorate at a rapid pace, which prompted him to investigate his own brain health.

After talking with a doctor at a hospital in Florida, he says brain scans showed damage on the left side of his brain. Following that revelation, he began hyperbaric oxygen treatments, and that over the course of a few years, following 120 sessions, he says his brain is now healthy.

Namath also said that he has tried to get the NFL on board with this treatment, but noted he doesn’t believe a single team has a hyperbaric chamber in their facilities.
