Former All-Star closer Francisco Rodriguez attempting a comeback

Francisco Rodriguez

Francisco Rodriguez last pitched in the majors in 2017. But at 37, the six-time All-Star reliever still has hopes on returning to the majors.

With an eye towards an MLB return, K-Rod reportedly signed with Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League on Thursday.

Rodriguez saved 437 games over his 16-year career. His 62 saves in 2005 with the Los Angeles Angels still stands as a single-season record for MLB. K-Rod finished his career with a 2.86 ERA, 1.155 WHIP, and a 10.5 K/9 rate.

The end of his career, though, was more of a struggle. Rodriguez saved seven games for the Detroit Tigers in 2017 with the Detroit Tigers, putting up a 7.82 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and an 8.2 K/9.
