Dodgers’ All-Star Corey Seager to miss a month with hamstring strain

Just when Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star shortstop Corey Seager started to find his groove at the plate, he’ll now find himself sidelined for the foreseeable future following a hamstring strain.

According to MLB.com’s Ken Gurnick, an MRI revealed Seager suffered between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 hamstring strain on Tuesday. He is expected to miss at least a month with the injury.

The MRI results are better than Los Angeles expected. Following Tuesday’s game, the team’s preliminary evaluation led them to believe Seager suffered a significant Grade 2 sprain and would miss six-plus weeks.

While Seager’s absence won’t be as lengthy as expected, it’s a significant blow for the Dodgers. In his last 32 games, he posted a .331/.397/..587 slash line with a .984 OPS.

Chris Taylor is expected to step in and see regular playing time at shortstop in Seager’s extended absence. The 28-year-old carries a .674 OPS with a .218 batting average in 64 games.
