Dirk Nowitzki is one of the greatest players in NBA history. It doesn’t look like his basketball skills translate to other sports, though.

The Texas Rangers were hosting Mavs Day on Wednesday night. As a recently retired Dallas Mavericks legend, Nowitzki was the natural choice to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Prior to the game, he was in the cage warming up and decided to go sidearm. It didn’t go well.

To quote the great Bob Uecker, juuust a bit outside.

Fortunately, Dirk avoided going viral on the actual pitch, which has happened to far less famous people. He decided to ditch the sidearm and go with a traditional delivery. It went much better.
