Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver D.K. Metcalf is quickly earning the respect of quarterback Russell Wilson, who gushed over his new playmaker on Wednesday.
Wilson called Metcalf “really, really special,” noting “he can do anything and everything,” speaking with the media after practice.
One of the most impressive physical freaks to come out of college football in some time, Metcalf wowed at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine with a rare combination of size and speed. However, he also struggled with agility drills and entered the NFL with some big red flags concerning injury concerns.
Still, it was shocking when he fell all the way into the bottom half of Round 2 during the NFL draft. Seattle took him 64th overall, which was significantly lower than anyone expected.
During his college career at Ole Miss, Metcalf was incredible when healthy. He routinely made incredibly difficult plays look easy, finishing with 67 catches for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Based on the way Wilson gushed about the young receiver, it appears Metcalf has a chance to become a star at the NFL level if he can stay healthy.
