Yankees say CC Sabathia is dealing with knee injury

New York Yankees veteran CC Sabathia didn’t necessarily pitch well during a 7-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.

While Sabathia did net his third win of the season, most of that had to do with the Yankees’ bats going off. The future Hall of Famer allowed four earned runs in five innings of work to bring his ERA for the season to 3.48.

Following the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone noted that Sabathia is dealing with some inflammation to his knee.

This is notable in that Sabathia started the 2019 season on the injured list due to both an angioplasty and right knee injury. It’s the same knee that’s apparently ailing the six-time All-Star.

The hope here is that a trip to the IL is not needed. New York already has starters James Paxton and Luis Severino on the shelf.
