Woman speaks out after errant first pitch hit cameraman

We didn’t know her name Tuesday evening. All we knew is that the first pitch she threw out ahead of the Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox game went wrong.

It ended up hitting the cameraman right in the camera, leading to what many might conclude was the worst first pitch in baseball history.

One day after the fact, we have specifics. Her name is Mary Ruich and she’s a White Sox Stadium Club Worker. Mrs. Ruich spoke out Wednesday about the errant wild pitch, noting that she wishes she could have simply run away without anyone seeing it. She’s also glad to hear that the cameraman, Darren Georgia, is just fine.

As the video of her first pitch went viral, one was left wondering just how Mrs. Ruich would handle it. She seems to be in good spirits after the fact. Though, as the woman notes, her phone blew up Tuesday night.
