James Davison Indy 500
Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

James Davison narrowly avoided disaster early in Sunday’s Indy 500 when he missed his pit stop and got spun out in pit road.

With Helio Castroneves trailing, he realized too late that he had missed his slot. Castroneves clipped his back end, spinning Davison nearly 180 degrees.

It’s a fortunate thing that none of the crew members on pit road were injured, and that nobody else crashed.
