WATCH: Chris Davis with sensational play for Orioles

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis made the wrong kind of history at the plate earlier this season.

While the high-priced veteran continues to struggle hitting, he turned in one of the season’s best play at first base Tuesday evening.

Just check out this sliding grab of a ground ball off the bat of Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez. Not only did Davis make the sliding nab, he flipped the ball behind his back to second baseman Hanser Alberto.

That’s brilliance defined right there. We also have to give Davis credit for continuing to play through his struggles at the plate.

He entered Tuesday’s action hitting .175 with a .267 OBP and 30 strikeouts in 80 at-bats this season. Apparently it has not impacted Davis in the field.
