Rockets-Warriors series continues to draw great ratings

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The long anticipated Western Conference Semifinals matchup between the Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors continues to be a ratings bonanza.

Game 1 of the series on Sunday was up 34% from the game in the same time slot last year.

Tuesday evening at Oracle was no different. According to TV By The Numbers, Game 2 drew a 2.4 rating at the 18-49 age demographic. That was nearly double the viewership of the Blazers-Thunder first-round game at the same time slot last week.

The game drew over six million viewers, ranking well ahead of the Celtics-Bucks playoff game and all other cable shows.

A series that features the two-time defending NBA champs is certain to draw a lot of viewers. Add in the rivalry and what we saw in Game 1, and that’s magnified further.

Golden State boasts a 2-0 series lead heading into Saturday’s Game 3 in Houston. That game should draw an even larger audience as it’s taking place during primetime.
